Hi!

My name is Patti and I am from New Jersey.  I have been a practicing Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) for over 30 years now.  I primarily work with infants and toddlers (birth to three years of age) in Early Intervention.

Over this time I have worked with many families and their children who have a variety of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Down Syndrome, and other genetic, neurological, and developmental delays.  I have been fortunate in my career to be able to shadow (early in my career) and consult with other pediatric professionals including physical therapists, speech/language pathologists, special educators, nurses, and social workers.

In all of this time, I have always believed that my professional knowledge that I share in my home-based services would be beneficial not only to those children/families eligible for services but also to the general population to assist and support with parenting.  It has been said that “Everything you need to learn you learn in kindergarten.”  Well, I believe the foundation is made earlier…right from birth, and the first three years are SOOOO important.  I want to share my knowledge with you.  I hope my passion shines through!

Personally, this July my wonderful husband and I will celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary.  We have an amazing daughter and son.  Even though they are four years apart in age, they have been and still are each other’s best buddies, which makes me most proud!  This year, they will both officially be in their twenties. My husband and I were looking forward to learning what life is like while empty nesting, but COVID-19 has delayed those plans for now.  So, why not begin my blogging adventure about parenting and development in the first three years of life in this special parenting year for me. Besides, my children pushed me to start this platform…they are now my advocates…full circle!
